Most parents want their children to get on well in life and that, nowadays more than ever, means having a good education.
By law, all children between the age of 5 and 16 must have a suitable full time education. Parents can be fined up to £2500 or imprisoned for failing to ensure that their child attends school regularly.
Magistrates can also impose a Parenting Order, which would mean you having to attend parenting classes.
The Local Education Authority might also apply for an Education Supervision Order to make them responsible for advising and supporting and giving directions to your child and you.
