There are around 50 voluntary drivers working on behalf of Wiltshire County Council who transport children and adults to their services.
The drivers utilise their own cars, which are inspected on an annual basis by council staff, who also ensure that relevant documentation such as insurance, m.o.t & drivers licence are in place. Drivers are also required to undertake a driver assessment, which is a version of the councils Safer Driving with Age (SAGE) scheme. Drivers are reimbursed a mileage rate which is claimable from home to home and is paid on a monthly basis.
All drivers must be checked by the Criminal Records Bureau, before being eligible to drive.
Voluntary Drivers provide a valuable service on behalf of the County Council and the people we serve.
