Travelling to Salisbury campus of Wiltshire College

If you live over 3 miles from Wiltshire College Salisbury, are under 19 and are attending your designated college, you are eligible for travel assistance.

Students Living in Wiltshire

Students living in Wiltshire and attending their designated college may be entitled to subsidised travel from Wiltshire Council (WC). The cost of the annual pass in 2011/12 is £400. For those whose parents are in receipt of tax credits with an income of less than £20,819 (or those not in receipt of tax credits, whose household income is at a similar level) may be eligible to pay the reduced rate pass costing £140. Proof of continuing EMA may also be acceptable for the reduced price pass. Passes can be paid for in instalments if ordered by 30 June 2011. Students Living in Hampshire

Students living in Hampshire and attending their nearest College, whose parent/legal guardian is in receipt of either, Income Support, Pension Credit, Job Seekers Allowance (income based), Employment Support Allowance, or maximum Working Tax Credit are entitled to a FREE pass through Hampshire County Council in 2011/12. Please contact Passenger Transport for an application form on 01962 846924 or 845332.

Students whose application has been rejected by Hampshire County Council or whose parent/guardian is not in receipt of the above benefits, should apply to the College for support. A bus pass will be issued subject to the same conditions as a WC pass (see above) or half termly payments will be made towards travel costs for those travelling by train. Students Living in Dorset

Students living in Dorset and attending their designated college should apply to the college for help. A bus pass may be issued subject to the same conditions as a WC pass (see above) or half termly payments may be made towards travel costs for those travelling by train. Please contact the Customer Services Manager at Salisbury for further information.

Students are expected to travel by public transport wherever possible and no support will be given to students who choose to drive to college when public transport is available.

Please note that all travel support is valid for one academic year only. Students must re-apply each year for continued support.

Travelling to Trowbridge campus of Wiltshire College

Students living in Wiltshire and attending their designated college may be entitled to subsidised travel from Wiltshire Council (WC). The cost of the annual pass in 2011-12 is £400. For those whose parents are in receipt of tax credits with an income of less than £20,819 (or those not in receipt of tax credits whose household income is at a similar level) may be eligible to pay the reduced rate pass costing £140. Proof of continuing EMA may also be acceptable for the reduced price pass. Passes can be paid for in instalments if ordered by 30 June. In 2010-11, students living in Somerset could buy a subsidised bus pass, called a County Ticket from Somerset County Council. The cost of the pass in 2010-11 was £505.00 (the 2011-12 rate has not yet been published) if you chose the option to pay in 10 monthly instalments, or £465 if you paid in one go. The bus pass enabled you to travel at any time for any journey as long as you started and/or finished in Somerset. There may be further help if you live more than 3 miles from a bus stop as you may be eligible for an allowance to get you to the nearest stop. If you are in County Council Care or estranged from your parents, you may be eligible for a free pass (please contact Somerset Direct on 0845 3459155). Somerset County Council will guarantee your pass is ready for the first day of term and send to your home address if you apply by 1 August. 2011

Students who live in Bath & North East Somerset or other students who are refused a travel pass and are in dispute with their County Council may be assisted by the College. This could be through weekly/monthly bus tickets if on a ‘First’ bus route, or half termly payments towards travel costs. Please contact Customer Services at Trowbridge College for further information.

Students living in Devizes wishing to attend Chippenham Campus should not apply to Wiltshire Council but complete a Wiltshire College Transport form available from July. Your pass will be issued subject to the same conditions as a Wiltshire Council pass (please see above). Please note all Devizes students who have returned their acceptance slip will be sent a Wiltshire College transport form.
