Thermal imaging cameras

Library members can borrow FLIR ONE Edge thermal imaging cameras from our libraries. Borrowing a thermal imaging camera will help you to identify areas of heat loss to improve your home's energy efficiency, reduce household bills and reduce carbon emissions.

The thermal imaging cameras can be borrowed from the following libraries or reserved for free and collected from any Wiltshire library. They are loaned for one week.

Reservations can be placed by contacting your local library (opens new window) or logging in to the library by visiting the online catalogue (opens new window) and searching for 'thermal imaging camera'.

Library members borrowing a thermal imaging camera must be 16 or over.

If you aren't already a library member, you can Join the library online, or in person at one of our libraries.

How it works

The camera connects to your smartphone or tablet via Bluetooth and works with the FLIR ONE app. The FLIR ONE app is free to download from visiting App Store: FLIR ONE (opens new window) or Google Store: Flir One (opens new window) and requires Android 11/iOS 16.0 or later.

It's easy to set up and use with the user guide and top tips:

You will be given a feedback form (OpenDocument text format) [423KB] (opens new window) to complete and return to the library at the end of your loan.

Next Steps

Once you've used the thermal camera to find where your home is losing energy, the next step is to identify the home improvements needed to help you stay warmer in winter and cooler in summer, reducing your carbon emissions plus saving you money on your energy bills.

Information about helpful home improvements, ways to save energy and the funding and support that's available can be found in the What next? guide (OpenDocument text format) [430KB] (opens new window) .
