Report a problem with flooding or drainage

If you have a problem with flooding or drainage it's important to understand who is responsible so that you can report it to the right place and get help.

Flooded roads, blocked drains and gullies

Contact the council to report a flooded road, blocked drain or gully. Report these using MyWilts:

Sewers and burst water mains

Contact your local water company for blocked sewers or burst water mains. Most of Wiltshire is covered by Wessex Water or Thames Water, use your postcode to find your supplier: Find Your Supplier (water.org.uk) (opens new window).

Private drains: The drainage pipes located beneath your house, garden or driveway, belong to you and are your responsibility. If there's a problem it's up to you to contact and pay for an independent drain clearing company. Find out more: Responsibility for pipes and sewers (ofwat.gov.uk) (opens new window).

Tell us if you've been flooded

We report cases of flooding to government to help us secure financial support for our residents and businesses. If you have experienced internal flooding in your property, please tell us. Doing this also helps us understand the impact of flooding so we can improve flood defence infrastructure and reduce risk in the future.
