Wiltshire Council issues Enforcement Notice on Wyatts Lake Farm in Bromham
Wiltshire Council has issued an Enforcement Notice on the owner and occupiers of Wyatts Lake Farm in Bromham following complaints about the unauthorised importation, deposit and open storage of waste on the land, as well as the unauthorised use of the land for open storage and for unauthorised residential caravans.
Following a thorough investigation by council officers, the Enforcement Notice was served on 18 February 2025 and will take effect on 25 March 2025. The notice requires that the importation and deposit of waste stops within one month and the land is cleared of all stored waste and other stored items over a staggered 18-month period. It also requires the residential caravan use of the land to stop within six months.
Cllr Nick Botterill, Cabinet Member for Development Management and Strategic Planning, said: "Our officers have been trying to work with the owner and occupiers of Wyatts Lake Farm to ensure they comply with planning legislation and stop storing waste on their land and stop hosting unauthorised residential caravans.
"However, the owner and occupiers have chosen not to comply and so we have had no choice but to serve this Enforcement Notice to ensure that the owner meets their legal obligations. An Enforcement Notice is always a last resort, but in this case it is necessary to prevent this unauthorised land use.
"We are committed to tackling planning breaches such as this in Wiltshire and we will use all available legal powers to enforce planning regulations wherever they may occur.
"We will continue to work with all people involved in this matter to ensure compliance with this Enforcement Notice."
