Vaccinations
Vaccination (immunisation) is the most important thing we can do to protect ourselves and our children against ill health. It prevents millions of deaths worldwide, every year.
Vaccination (immunisation) is the most important thing we can do to protect ourselves and our children against ill health. It prevents millions of deaths worldwide every year. Vaccines teach your immune system how to create antibodies that protect against diseases.
It's much safer for your immune system to learn this through vaccination than by catching the diseases and treating them. Once your immune system knows how to fight a disease, it can often give you lifelong protection.
The NHS recommends routine vaccinations delivered through your life as outlined in the NHS vaccinations and when to have them (nhs.uk) (opens new window) if you or your child missed a vaccine contact your GP to discuss, you can catch up anytime on most vaccinations.
