West Wiltshire District Plan

Status

On 26 September 2007, the Secretary of State issued a direction setting out the policies within the West Wiltshire District Plan 1st Alteration that can be 'saved' beyond 26 September 2007.

The West Wiltshire Leisure and Recreation DPD, adopted in 2009, replaced the following saved policies:

• Policy R1 - Recreational Space (replaced by Policy LP3 of the Leisure and Recreation DPD)
• Policy R2 - Protection of Recreational Space (replaced by Policy LP2)
• Policy R3 - Dual Use of Educational Land (replaced by Policy SC1)
• Policy R4 - Open Space in New Housing Developments (replaced by Policy LP4)
• Policy R5 - Further Provision of Recreation Space (replaced by Policy LP5)
• Policy R6 - Trowbridge Football Stadium (replaced by Policy OS2)
• Policy R8 - Greenspace Network (replaced by Policy CR3)
• Policy R9 - Country Parks (replaced by Policy CR2)
• Policy R11 - Footpaths and Rights of Way (replaced by Policy CR1)
• Policy R14 - Golf Courses (replaced by Policy LP5)
• Policy R16 - Indoor Facilities (replaced by Policy IS1)
• Policy CA1- Kennet and Avon Canal (replaced by Policy WR2)
• Policy CA4 - Wilts and Berks Canal (replaced by Policy WR3)

The Wiltshire Core Strategy, adopted in 2015, then replaced more saved policies from the West Wiltshire District Plan and, also, Policy WR3 of the Leisure and Recreation DPD.

The remaining extant policies are listed at Appendix D of the Wiltshire Core Strategy (PDF, 283 KB)(opens new window) and will be replaced as part of the Local Plan Review process.

Until replaced, the remaining saved policies will still be used to inform decisions on planning applications within the area of Wiltshire relating to the previous administrative boundary of West Wiltshire District Council.
