Solar Together

Buying solar panels and battery storage made easy

Wiltshire Council acknowledged a Climate Emergency in 2019 and set goals to seek to make the council and county carbon neutral by 2030. Solar Together present an opportunity to directly make positive contributions towards these commitments, by offering residents an accessible way to install renewable technology in their homes.

We are working in partnership with Swindon Borough Council and independent experts iChoosr Ltd to give homeowners the opportunity to invest in renewables through a group-buying scheme for solar panels and battery storage with Solar Together Wiltshire (solartogether.co.uk) (opens new window)

This group-buying scheme offers solar panels with optional battery storage and EV charge points, as well as offering battery storage for residents who have already invested in solar panels and are looking to get more from the renewable energy they generate, as well as increase their independence from the grid. It is a group-buying scheme, which brings Wiltshire households together to get high-quality solar panels at a competitive price, helping you through the process and keeping you informed at every stage.

A new Solar Together scheme will get underway later in 2024 and we'll have more information on this very soon.

Results so far

The second scheme of Solar Together Wiltshire and Swindon has recently come to an end, with 1,581 installations completed across both years (2022 and 2023), which equates to 29,500 tonnes of carbon avoided over the guaranteed lifetime of the systems installed. Solar Together has generated 5.9MW of renewable energy generation and £16m of private investment from our residents. Customer satisfaction rates across both schemes have been very good, with only 2.5% of customers contacting iChoosr for support. Since the first scheme in 2022, Solar Together has installed 26% of all MCS-registered solar panel installations in Wiltshire & Swindon, including the time between active schemes.
