Residents updated on new care plans for Extra Care
Residents at four Extra Care Housing sites in Wiltshire can be assured of continued additional support while maximising the option to live independently.
Extra Care Housing is designed to provide independent living accommodation to residents typically over the age of 55 who have current social care needs or may develop such needs in future.
The service has been retendered and a new contract will be in place from September 2022. The new model was co-produced with residents and their families.
The new service will provide 24/7 on site staff presence for the delivery of eligible planned care packages and discrete episodes of unplanned care when appropriate and emergency response, with the exception of Bell Orchard. There will also be wellbeing and activity support during core hours to promote independence and reduce and/or delay the need for specialist care.
The new service will be provided by Cera Care.
Cllr Jane Davies Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care said: "This service is part of our commitment to ensure that the people of Wiltshire are enabled to live full, healthy and enriched lives.
"Our residents have been a key part of shaping this new service and I'm pleased that this new model is now in place. The new contract means people can continue to live independently but have a level of care available if needed and I'm pleased we can provide this assurance to all residents across all four sites for the future."
