Carbon Neutral Council Plan 2022- 2024

Introduction to the Carbon Neutral Council Plan

Wiltshire Council acknowledged a climate emergency in February 2019, and committed to becoming carbon neutral as an organisation by 2030. The council also committed to seeking to make the county of Wiltshire carbon neutral in the same timeframe.

The council adopted its Wiltshire Council Climate Strategy (PDF, 7 MB)(opens new window) in February 2022, which sets out objectives and 'areas of focus' to decrease greenhouse gas emissions and increase resilience to climate change for the county of Wiltshire for the period 2022 - 2027. Although Wiltshire Council's operational emissions are a small fraction of the county's direct emissions (approx. 0.5%) the council must show leadership by tackling its own emissions.
