Safer communities
The Vulnerable Communities team address anti-social behaviour reduction, domestic abuse reduction and community safety.
Community safety, anti-social behaviour, domestic abuse and substance misuse can affect individuals, families and communities. The team works within the local authority and with partners to strategically plan and co-ordinate activity to address these issues.
The team ensures that the council's responses to these community safety issues are maximised and obligations under the Crime and Disorder Act are satisfied. They work across all departments and services in the local authority and with a wide range of other partners to facilitate joint initiatives.
A key role is to work alongside staff from partner agencies, in both the statutory and voluntary sector, to support and deliver the Wiltshire Community Safety Partnership strategies for keeping communities safe.
Organisations that the team works with include:
- Wiltshire Police
- Wiltshire Police Authority
- Wiltshire Probation
- Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service
- Wiltshire Criminal Justice Board
- Health Services
- Registered social landlords, voluntary and community groups
- Office of the Police Crime Commissioner
Wiltshire Council recognises that vulnerable adults can be abused and are committed to working in partnership with other agencies both to prevent abuse and to investigate allegations of abuse.
