New housing developments

Delivery of affordable housing and recent new housing developments.

What we do

The Housing Enabling Team assists in the delivery of new affordable homes across Wiltshire for applicants on the Homes4Wiltshire housing register to rent or to buy on a low cost home ownership scheme.

The involvement of Registered Providers (Housing Associations), working with us, the Wiltshire Housing Development Partnership and Homes England, is the most effective way of delivering affordable housing. We aim to make best use of available resources to provide value for money and create a balanced housing market, providing a mix of housing types and tenures to meet local needs.

We deliver affordable housing through a variety of ways:

  • Private developments under planning agreements
  • Private sites which are developed for 100 per cent affordable housing
  • Rural housing including exception site developments
  • Existing properties bought on the open market

The council operates a subsidy free approach to the delivery of affordable housing on Section 106 sites.

Affordable Housing is delivered in line with Wiltshire Council's adopted Core Strategy.

Shared ownership

Shared ownership addresses the affordability challenges facing first time buyers.

More information is available by selecting Wiltshire Council Shared Ownership and Shared Ownership properties in the Related pages section,  Help to buy South  or by contacting the  Registered Providers directly.
