COVID-19 reopening

Leisure services update - August 2020

Wiltshire Council began a phased reopening of its leisure services from 3 August, following confirmation from the Government that leisure centres can reopen with social distancing measures in place.

On 3 August, Five Rivers Health and Wellbeing Centre (Salisbury) and Springfield Community Campus (Corsham), opened their doors to the public for the first time since 20 March, with customers able to initially access the fitness suite, swimming pool and group exercise classes.

Then on 10 August, the council reopened Nadder Centre (Tisbury), The Vale Community Campus (Pewsey), and Devizes Leisure Centre.

Marlborough Leisure Centre and Tidworth Leisure Centre followed on Monday 7 September with all reopened centres starting to deliver swimming lessons from Monday 21 September.

On 10 August, a number of the sites managed on behalf of the council by Places Leisure reopened, including The Olympiad, Chippenham; The Activity Zone, Malmesbury; Castle Place Leisure Centre, Trowbridge; Melksham Blue Pool and Warminster Sports Centre.

New COVID-19 measures

There are a number of actions that we have taken, and will continue to take daily, to help ensure that the centre is a safe environment for you to visit.

We have carried out a comprehensive COVID-19 risk assessment at each leisure centre and put in place a number of measures to ensure that the health and safety of staff and customers is our number one priority.

Test and Trace

We have been asked by the government to collect details and maintain records of staff, customers and visitors on the premises to support NHS Test and Trace. We will keep a secure record of customers name, when they arrive/leave, what they are attending the centre for i.e. what activity or who they are here to see and a contact for them.

This information will be recorded within our booking system for those attending activities that are bookable.  We will normally destroy information held in relation to Test and Trace after 21 days, as recommended by the Government.  However as this is the same information already held for other purposes, it will continue to be retained and used for those purposes.

This information will only be passed on to contract tracers upon request and will not be used for any other purpose.

We are encouraging everyone who comes to our buildings to share this information with us, but it is not compulsory. If you chose to not provide this data please notify us and we will record your visit omitting your name and contact.

The full privacy policy related to Test and Trace can be found below.
