Springfield fitness timetable

Group exercise classes are fun, motivational, social and great for your fitness! Whatever you're looking to achieve, we have a range of different classes to try, and great instructors to inspire you. So whether it's strength or fitness, relaxation or flexibility, fun or friendship...there's a class for you, regardless of your age, fitness level or ability.

The centre is due to reopen no earlier than Monday 12 April pending government confirmation. However, indoor group exercise classes may not be provided until Monday 17 May at the earliest. 

From Monday 12 April we are planning to provide a range of outdoor group exercise classes, weather permitting. These will be available to book online up to 7 days prior, as a member, or up to 2 days prior, as a non-member. They will be free for Life Zone members, £3 for all other members and £4 for non-members.

In the event of a class being cancelled due to weather, your booking will be transferred to another of your choice. We will endeavour to contact all participants, prior to the class taking place, in the event of it being cancelled. Please also check our social media pages for updates.

Online group exercise classes, free for all, are available to access online up until the end of May. 

Attendance details

Places will be limited to 15 per class to enable social distancing so please book in advance. You can do so via our Online Leisure Bookings or through the leisure centre. 

Please come dressed ready for the session as changing rooms will not be available when you visit, but there will be access to toilets. 

If you can't make your session, please make every effort to cancel your booking. This can be done quickly and easily online for Life Zone members, but if you have made a paid-for booking, you will need to cancel this at the leisure centre. This is to enable spaces to be made available for those that want to attend.

All classes are subject to instructor availability and we reserve the right to change this schedule at any time.

No show policy

Please note that our new 'no show' trial will continue from Monday 12 April - if you can't make a gym session, swim or group exercise class that you have booked, please cancel it no more than 2 hours before hand, wherever possible. This is to enable that space to be made available for someone else to use. During the trial period (to the end of May) this fee will be waived, but you must make contact with the centre to waive it.

Book your group exercise classes or court hire online, for a quicker, more accessible booking method. Online booking is available 7 days in advance for members with a leisurecard number. Non-members can use online booking to book online up to 2 days in advance

Make sure that you arrive early for classes to ensure entry and also to get your favourite place!

Entry to classes after the advertised start time is not permitted due to the risk of injury and also as respect to the instructor and other class participants.

Health and fitness class types

  • CD: Cardio class - designed to raise your heart rate and maximise calorie loss.
  • ST: Strengthening and toning classes - to intensify muscle workout focusing on toning, muscle definition, strength and endurance.
  • FR: Flexibility and relaxation classes - to relax the body and mind focusing on your core, balance and flexibility.
  • SH: Specialist health classes - specifically for health intervention and may require a referral.
  • AB: All over body workout classes - a combination of calorie crunching, muscle toning, strength and stamina.
  • WB: Water based exercise - low impact classes in the pool to maintain and improve stamina, strength, suppleness and to increase cardiovascular fitness.
  • AP: Active plus classes 

Juniors attending group exercise classes 

Juniors, aged 14 and 15, may attend group exercise classes when accompanied by a responsible adult (aged 16 plus) but are not able to attend the following classes: GRIT plyo and strength, HIIT, Circuits, Body Pump / Ultimate Pump, Kettlebells, Aerotone, LBT, 20:20:20, Boot Camp. This is due to these classes containing weight bearing elements.

Active Health classes 

We offer a range of specialist classes, including Falls Prevention, Exercise after Stroke, Cardiac Rehab, Active Health circuits and Active Health aqua, for those people referred by a GP or healthcare specialist into physical activity.
