Have your say on the proposed A350 Melksham bypass

People can have their say on the proposed A350 Melksham bypass, and the 18 different route options that are being considered.

Published 5 November 2020

From today (Thursday 5 November), people can have their say on the proposed A350 Melksham bypass, and the 18 different route options that are being considered.

Wiltshire Council is exploring options to improve the road, including the potential case for a new bypass to take the A350 around Melksham, and is seeking the views of residents, businesses and other stakeholders on the progress so far, and the various proposed route options.

Cllr Bridget Wayman, Cabinet Member for Highways, said: "We want to gauge the opinions of the public and local stakeholders, which is why we're engaging at this early stage of the process.

"There are 18 options in total, and some of them do not involve a bypass at all, so we'd like to hear people's views on these options and on the best way forward for the project.

"At this stage, we are seeking feedback on the early progress of the scheme - this is not a statutory consultation. If the scheme progresses, statutory consultation will follow in due course.

"It is also important to note that all route options are indicative and do not show the exact route that any road may take. If and when a preferred option is decided upon, the specifics of the route would be subject to full statutory consultation.

"Anyone with an interest in the proposed Melksham bypass can find out more information, FAQs and a link to the survey on our website."

Due to restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the council is unable to display the documents in Melksham Library or other venues as it usually would. However, all documents on the webpage are printable.

Find out more and access the survey. The survey will run until 23:59 on Monday 30 November 2020.
