Wiltshire Council is reminding non-retail businesses in the county that there is still time to claim a rate reduction.

The council has funding available in the COVID-19 Additional Relief Fund (CARF), which targets rate-paying businesses that have been adversely affected by the pandemic.

Any business ratepayers in Wiltshire that have a non-retail property and have not previously received any business rate relief during the pandemic should submit an application for this funding.

Cllr Richard Clewer, Leader of the Council and Cabinet Member for Economic Development, said: We still have funding available in the CARF scheme to support non-retail businesses in Wiltshire, so it's important that all business ratepayers with a non-retail property apply as soon as possible.

We paid out £183m in business grants during the pandemic to support Wiltshire businesses, but we still have this rate relief available and we want it to help support businesses that have been affected by COVID, and are now also affected by the rising cost of living.

We'll continue to do all we can to support Wiltshire businesses during this difficult period as they recover from the pandemic and face the challenges of rising costs.

The CARF rate relief is available to rate-paying businesses that meet eligibility requirements. It is not available to businesses that were eligible for the retail, hospitality and leisure relief or nursery relief during the pandemic. It will also not apply to landlords of unoccupied properties.

Businesses such as light manufacturing units, offering shared workspace, factories, warehouses and workshops are among those that may be eligible.

People can find further details and an application form can be found at  or contact the business rates team on 01249 706290 or businessrates@wiltshire.gov.uk (opens new window).
