A Calne resident has been issued with a £1,000 fixed penalty notice (FPN) by Wiltshire Council for fly-tipping household waste.
Black refuse bags of waste were found dumped on the pavement near The Green in Calne. This location has recently become a fly-tipping hotspot, with 10 incidents reported to the council since the beginning of this year.
The resident, who cannot be named as they were not convicted in court, was issued with the FPN following an investigation carried out by the council's Environmental Enforcement Officers.
Cllr Nick Holder, Cabinet Member for Highways and Streetscene, said: We are continuing our mission to tackle fly-tipping here in Wiltshire and our fixed penalty notices reflect how serious we are about it.
As well as enforcement and prosecutions, our campaigns are also about educating people. And as part of our We're Targeting Fly-tippers (WTF) campaign we've recently launched a dedicated webpage about fly-tipping to provide residents with easily accessible information on how to dispose of their waste safely and legally - and how to report fly-tipping.
I would encourage residents to have a look at the website and familiarise themselves with the information, especially if their giving their waste to someone else to dispose of as their waste is their responsibility.
