Changes to waste collections start today
From today, Monday 28 February, the waste collection days for nearly all Wiltshire properties will change.
From today, Monday 28 February, the waste collection days for nearly all Wiltshire properties will change.
Residents have received a letter detailing their new collection day, which is for general household waste collections only - there is no change to recycling or garden waste collections, which will still take place on their usual day for all residents.
It will take two weeks for all the changes to take effect, so some residents will have their new collection day this week, while others will take place next week. Residents also had a hanger label placed on their bin on their final collection of the old schedule to remind them that their collection day is changing.
If a bin is not emptied as scheduled because of any issues with the new rounds, residents should leave them out and it's expected they will be collected the following day where possible.
Cllr Dr Mark McClelland, Cabinet Member for Waste, said: The bin collection day for nearly all our residents changes today, so people should remember to put their general waste bin out by 7am on their new collection day.
These collection day changes will make our rounds more efficient, reducing our carbon emissions and saving more than £1.5m over the next five years.
Don't forget, this does not affect kerbside recycling or garden waste collections - these collection days will stay the same across the county. This change only affects the general household waste bin.
We look forward to these new rounds helping to reduce our carbon emissions and deliver cost savings that we can invest in other frontline services.
