Wiltshire Council Singers, the council's staff choir, is joining forces with The Keevil Singers to perform a concert to raise funds for the people of Ukraine.

Published 15 March 2022

The concert and singalong will take place on Wednesday 23 March, 7.30 - 9.30pm, at Holy Trinity Church, Trowbridge.

Cllr Richard Clewer, Leader of Wiltshire Council said: "The news reports and pictures of the recent events in Ukraine have been very distressing. Both the Wiltshire Council Singers and The Keevil Singers wanted to do something to help the people of Ukraine and have decided to put on a special concert to raise money for the Disasters Emergency Ukraine Appeal.

We know that our residents have already been generous in showing their support for the people of Ukraine through donations and offering to provide homes for people who need a safe place to stay. I hope that people will come along to the concert to show their support and rally behind the people of Ukraine, letting them know they are not alone".

Denise Drew, Musical Director of The Wiltshire Council Singers said: "Due to the unprecedented situation, the Wiltshire Council Singers felt that a concert was a way in which we could show our support to the people of Ukraine.

"The concert has been arranged at very short notice, with Holy Trinity Church in Trowbridge agreeing to make the church available to host this special event".

Tickets costing £5 will be available on the door or can be reserved by emailing choir@wiltshire.gov.uk (opens new window). A raffle will take place during the interval and wine and soft drinks will be available.

All funds raised will go directly to the Disasters Emergency Committee Ukraine Appeal. www.dec.org.uk/appeal/ukraine-humanitarian-appeal (opens new window).
