Final preparations for the transfer of Places Leisure leisure centres to Wiltshire Council is under way.

The transfer of centres takes place on 1 October, and it will see the 10 leisure centres currently managed by Places Leisure move under the management of Wiltshire Council.

The council is individually writing to current Places Leisure members to inform them of their ongoing membership arrangements beyond 1 October. Customers are being moved over to the equivalent Wiltshire Council membership schemes where possible and informed of any price changes. This will ensure membership offers are consistent across all 20 of the council's leisure centres from 1 October.

Customers can change from the membership they have been transferred to should they wish to. All requests should be made to leisureadmin@wiltshire.gov.uk (opens new window). Due to the amount of customers being transferred, some may have been moved to the incorrect membership. If that's the case the council will be in touch with them to rectify shortly.

For those who pay by Direct Debit, no payment will be taken in October. The first payment will be a pro rata payment, which will be taken on 5 November to cover any days that have not been collected by Places Leisure for October, and for the full month of November. No Direct Debit details need to be changed by customers.

Cllr Ian Blair-Pilling, Cabinet Member for Leisure, said:

We thank customers for bearing with us as we confirm their Wiltshire Council leisure membership and ongoing arrangements, as this is a complex task.

We will respond to any enquires we receive as quickly as we can.

When the transfer has completed there will be many benefits to customers in the future, including being able to offer a broader range of memberships and more concessionary rates.
