State-of-the-art fitness suite set to open at Calne Leisure Centre

The new fitness suite at Calne Leisure Centre will open this month, as our £3.4m Calne Community Campus project reaches another milestone.

Published 6 March 2020

The fitness suite will open from 6.30am on Monday 23 March. To coincide with the opening, we will be offering all new members an offer on new memberships; with all Life Zone, Fitness Zone and Swim Zone memberships available without the admin fee, saving £20, and the first full month free.
In addition, with monthly rates reduced by 25% for the duration of the rest of the refurbishment works, both existing and new members will get the new fitness suite facilities at a good price. For full details of the offer people should visit our leisure pages.
The fitness suite is more than twice the size of the previous fitness space, with brand new, state-of-the-art equipment including purpose-built free weights area, functional training rig and Smith weight machine. It will feature smart card technology that enables people to store, track and view their workout history, which also helps the council's fitness consultants to work with them on programme reviews and ensure that their workouts are as customised as possible.
On the day the new fitness suite opens, access to the building for all customers will be through a new temporary access around the left-hand side of the building, this will be clearly signposted.
Work continues on other areas of the building; the project is due to conclude in the autumn of this year.
Cllr Allison Bucknell, Cabinet Member for Leisure, said: This is a significant improvement from the previous fitness suite and I'm sure our customers will be very impressed.
There's more work to be done at Calne Leisure Centre and we will be working hard to ensure disruption is kept to a minimum. We thank everyone for their patience but the end result will be more than worth the wait.
Leisure activities have such an important role to play in supporting people's health and wellbeing and we're delighted to provide this for the community.
For up-to-date information, designs and the latest on the other work taking place to improve and refurbish the centre; including to the pool, the wet change facilities, and the new modern village change area; people should visit our dedicated Calne Community Campus.
