Get your little ones swimming with intensive courses this Easter holiday

Wiltshire Council is offering a variety of intensive swimming lesson courses across its leisure centres this Easter holiday period, to support children in their swimming development and confidence in the water.

Intensive lessons are a great way to either introduce new swimmers to the water or as a way of accelerating learning for those already in the council's swim school programme. Intensive diving courses are also being offered at Trowbridge Sports Centre. Each child enrolled will have access to a daily class throughout the week, apart from on bank holidays.

All swimming pools follow the Swim England Learn to Swim pathway which is a national syllabus used to ensure lessons for all ages are delivered to a high and consistent standard. Non-swimmers are taken through the four frameworks in the programme starting with the basics of learning to swim through to more advanced skills and sports such as water polo and diving. There are badges and certificates to be earned along the way to reward progression and learning.

Cllr Ian Blair-Pilling, Wiltshire Council Cabinet Member for Leisure, said, "Intensive lessons are a great way to help your children overcome hurdles or stumbling blocks that they may be having in their regular swimming lessons. As they are attending daily, we find that in general the progression is much quicker and can greatly improve a child's confidence.

"Intensive lessons can also be used by children who are currently waiting for spaces on our regular weekly lessons and give them an insight into what will happen when they join the regular classes, with the added bonus of it being a fun healthy school holiday activity"

In addition, Lime Kiln Leisure Centre are also offering intensive gymnastics lessons over the Easter break. Information on these sessions can be found at
