From Monday 28 April, Wiltshire Council will be commencing work to upgrade the existing pedestrian crossing at A4 Rowden Hill in Chippenham.

The works will take approximately three weeks to complete and there will be traffic management in place to enable the works to be carried out safely, including multi-way temporary traffic signals and a temporary signalised crossing.

The crossing infrastructure at this location is nearing the end of its designed lifespan and will be replaced as part of our traffic signal refurbishment programme. This helps to ensure the crossing technology continues to function correctly.

Samantha Howell, Director of Highways, said: Our traffic signal refurbishment programme allows us to identify and prioritise signals that need refurbishment once they've reached the end of their design life.

We understand this work may cause some disruption and we thank road users for their patience. These improvements are essential to keeping our road network safe
