The Wiltshire Parent Carer Council (WPCC) is taking bookings for its next Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Information Event which will take place on Friday 2 February 2024 at The Civic Centre, Trowbridge.
This event will run from 9.30am to 2pm with registrations from 9.30am and the event starting at 10am.
A key feature of the event will be the 'Market Place', where it is anticipated more than 35 services and providers across the local area will showcase their offer. Free refreshments will be available throughout the day for everyone who attends.
There will a free workshop at this event to help parent carers to take away some practical tips and strategies. There is more information on the WPCC SEND Information event 2 February 2024 pre-event information pack (opens new window) for information about the workshop. Places for the workshop will be limited and will be offered on a first come, first served basis.
There will also be a keynote presentation at the beginning of the event presented by Wiltshire Council providing an update on parent carer engagement and what is happening as a result of people's collective voice.
Stuart Hall, Strategic Director of the WPCC said: "The Information Events organised by the Wiltshire Parent Carer Council are an invaluable way for parent carers to engage with some of Wiltshire's SEND services and providers to understand what may be available to support their children and young people. The events help to bring Wiltshire's Local Offer to life, create an opportunity for parent carers to interact with some of the people who deliver SEND services and help to strengthen relationships and partnerships, and enable parent carers to meet other parent carers. Anyone with an interest in SEND in Wiltshire is warmly invited to attend this free event."
Cllr Jane Davies, Cabinet Member for SEND said: "These events are always extremely useful and I'm sure many SEND families and professionals will join this important event to find out more about latest information and opportunities."
The pre-event Information booklet gives early information about what to expect from the event including:
- information about stands confirmed by beginning of January 2024 (more are anticipated as WPCC gets closer to the event)
- information about the workshop
- a draft agenda
- links for booking places
Parent carers will be able to claim car parking, travel and childcare expenses if attending the event.
