Local Plan consultation events visit Marlborough, Malmesbury, Corsham, Royal Wootton Bassett and Trowbridge next week

Wiltshire Council's Local Plan consultation events continue next week with in-person drop-in sessions being held at Marlborough Library, Malmesbury Library, Springfield Community Campus in Corsham, Royal Wootton Bassett Library and Trowbridge Library. All of these events take place from 3pm to 7pm. There is also an online information session on Tuesday 10 October, from 6.30pm to 8pm.

People can just turn up at the in-person events - there is no need to book. However, anyone who wishes to attend the online event must sign up beforehand.

These events are the latest in a series of 16 in-person and one online events that the council is holding during the consultation, with the final events being held during week commencing Monday 16 October, and the consultation itself closing at 5pm on Wednesday 22 November.

Cllr Nick Botterill, Cabinet Member for Strategic Planning, said: This is your opportunity to have your say on the Local Plan before it is considered by a Planning Inspector, so I'd urge everyone in the towns and surrounding areas of Marlborough, Malmesbury, Corsham, Royal Wootton Bassett and Trowbridge to attend next week's events and find out more about the Plan and how to make representations.

Local Plan policies will ensure we only build as many homes as we need to over the next 15 years, while also maximising building on brownfield sites, and also make sure we build enough affordable homes. The Plan also sets groundbreaking zero carbon and biodiversity standards to help shape a more sustainable future for our county's growth.

Following this consultation, the Plan will be reviewed by a Planning Inspector through the examination in public before it can be adopted, and so this is your chance to have your say on this important place-shaping document for Wiltshire.

The full schedule of remaining events is as follows. People can share their views through the council's online portal, and anyone without internet access can visit a library to use the computers there or contact the council to get a written copy of the representation form and find out how to view the documents.
