Competition information

Do you love writing?

Maybe you're more of a crafty person and enjoy making things?

Perhaps creating posters is more your thing?

If you're aged four to 18 we want to hear from you!

Wiltshire Council is launching a competition to encourage people to share their creative flair during lockdown.

Poetry, short stories, posters or creating your own face covering are all part of the competition

The competition launches today (17 November) and we will be sharing entries as they come in on our Twitter, Facebook and Instagram pages.

Final judging will take place early December when there will be prizes for the winners of the different age categories.

The competition is split into age groups of  4 - 7, 8 - 11, 12 - 15 and 16 - 18 years.

For younger primary age children there is an opportunity to create a poster on our template on how to keep 2m apart. Older primary children can write a poem or short story based on "2021 is going to be ..."

Secondary age children are being encouraged to get crafty and create a face covering and share their pictures or write a story or poem along the same theme "2021 is going to be...."

The full details are available on the website on  including a competition entry form which must be filled in. Wiltshire Council is hoping lots of people will get creative and share their ideas.

Kate Blackburn Director of Public Health for Wiltshire said: "We know these can be challenging times as we go through a second lockdown and particularly as we're heading into winter with shorter days. This competition will hopefully shed a little sunshine and inspire our young people to get creative. We are keen to see those entries showing off the great talents of young people in Wiltshire.

"Look out for entries on our social media posts and later we will be sharing who has won these prizes. Good luck everyone and I look forward to seeing all your entries."

People can send in their entries and a completed copy of the entry form to communications@wiltshire.gov.uk (opens new window) by 12 noon on 30 November. Winners will be announced early December.
