Manvers Street and Fore Street Improvements due to complete next week
The extensive improvement works on Manvers Street and Fore Street in Trowbridge are reaching a significant milestone.
The extensive improvement works on Manvers Street and Fore Street in Trowbridge are reaching a significant milestone. With the completion of the second phase due next week, Manvers Street will fully reopen to traffic on Sunday 1 December, lifting the temporary road closure.
The recent improvements included widening and resurfacing footpaths, adding designated parking and loading bays, and installing new street furniture to enhance pedestrian access and public safety. Essential repairs to the drainage system and a full reconstruction and resurfacing of the carriageway were also completed.
Starting on 2 December, the third and final phase of the project will commence focusing on footpath enhancements along Hill Street, near the former bathroom shop and Kitchener's Court. This phase will be coordinated with planned utility works on Hill Street, to minimise disruption for residents and businesses.
Cllr Nick Holder, Wiltshire Council's Cabinet Member for Highways, Street Scene, and Flooding, commented: We're really pleased with the progress on these improvement works. Enhancing our public spaces is a key priority, and the visible upgrades at Manvers Street and Fore Street are already contributing to a more vibrant and connected town centre.
We would like to reassure residents and visitors that all local businesses will remain open as usual throughout this final phase. We understand that improvements of this scale can cause temporary disruption, and we appreciate everyone's patience whilst we complete the works. Our contractors will stay in close communication with businesses directly impacted by the work to keep any disruption to a minimum. Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times, and dedicated traffic management staff will be on hand to assist as needed.
This is the latest scheme funded from the government's £16 million investment in Trowbridge via the Future High Streets Fund.
