Wiltshire Council has worked with contractor, Redcliffe Homes and employer's agent, Ridge and Partners, to build three affordable rent and nine shared ownership homes on a section 106 site at Rowden Brook, Chippenham.

The homes are in a central Chippenham location, with private rear gardens, carports and private drives. There is a new children's play area being created as part of the development to encourage outside play and provide green spaces for people to enjoy, along with nature trails on resident's doorsteps. The homes have been built to high standard with an energy performance certificate of B, providing well insulted, warm homes for people to rent and purchase. The homes have excellent road and rail links, within walking distance to local amenities.

This development is part of Wiltshire Council's programme to provide 1,000 affordable homes over the next decade.

Cllr Phil Alford, Wiltshire Council Cabinet Member for Housing, said: "These new homes provide much needed affordable housing with low running costs. This forms part of our wider vision for affordable homes across the county.

"This development is part of our council house build programme, which will see over £200m invested in building new, energy efficient council homes up to 2030. We will also make substantial investment on improving existing council homes to ensure they achieve a minimum energy performance rating of B.

"Affordable housing is a key aim of our business plan, and this scheme is a clear example of the work we're doing to make that a reality."

The affordable housing has been allocated in line with the council's allocation policy.
