The new-look gym at Springfield Community Campus will reopen on Monday 9 December, becoming the latest centre to benefit from the council's investment in its leisure facilities.

During its four-week closure, the fitness suite has undergone a complete transformation which has included:

  • a complete replacement of the previously available fitness equipment
  • an updated, more fit for purpose functional training area including a versatile rig for bodyweight training, curved treadmills and AirBikes
  • an upgraded free weight area, featuring integrated lifting, a plate loaded hip thruster and an Olympic 4 in 1 rack
  • the installation of additional cable machines as requested by gym members
  • a fresh new look with contemporary decoration and brand-new flooring.

People wishing to take part in a detailed show round of the gym and familiarise themselves with the new equipment can book in for group induction sessions led by fitness consultants.

Cllr Ian Blair-Pilling, Cabinet Member for Leisure, said: We're really excited to welcome customers back into the gym at Springfield with a new look and feel. We think the new facilities offer people the chance to experience the highest quality fitness opportunities and some of the most cutting-edge and sought after equipment in the local area.

We have made this investment to ensure we've got the right environment for all our residents, no matter their age or abilities. We are committed to provide people with accessible facilities and opportunities to engage in an active lifestyle whether they are just starting out or are already on their fitness journey.

We thank the customers for their patience whilst the upgrade work took place and we look forward to seeing both returning members and new customers enjoying using the new facilities when they visit.

These works follow recent improvement works being completed at Lime Kiln Leisure Centre, Royal Wootton Bassett; The Olympiad in Chippenham; Five Rivers Health and Wellbeing Centre in Salisbury; and Devizes Leisure Centre. Improvement works have also recently got underway at Marlborough Leisure Centre and Warminster Sports Centre, re-affirming the council's commitment to provide high quality services and facilities that support people's health and wellbeing.
