Online questionnaire still available to help shape the vision for Future Chippenham

There's still time for local people to feed into and help shape the vision for Future Chippenham as the online questionnaire is available until noon on Friday 7 January 2022.

Future Chippenham is the proposed residential development to the south of the town. It provides an opportunity to help create an infrastructure led development that could deliver high quality, well designed and sustainable communities that meet the needs of the town.

Over the last few weeks pop up events have been held throughout Chippenham to gather local people's feedback to help create a vision of Future Chippenham.

Councillor Richard Clewer, Leader of Wiltshire Council, said: "We've had a good level of engagement so far and we would like to thank all those people who took the time to come and see us. Anyone unable to attend the pop-up events is still able to give us their comments using the online questionnaire at

"It is important local people get involved in this process so that we can shape a future that creates sustainable, accessible communities, responds to the challenge of climate change, connects people, provides the affordable housing our communities need and enables Chippenham's economy to thrive.

"Development will take place in Chippenham both to meet government housing targets and to help provide the affordable housing we need to keep our young people in the communities they grew up in. So, it's important to focus on how new development could be delivered in a planned and carefully managed way that works for local residents and secures investment for our future communities.

"Subject to the outcome of the Local Plan review, Future Chippenham aims to provide infrastructure led development which is properly master planned to help meet the needs of the community, as opposed to 'cookie cutter' housing estates being built by developers which do not integrate with the town or community or have the ability to provide the wider benefits."

The feedback gathered will be used to help establish the vision for Future Chippenham. A more detailed public consultation on the Future Chippenham proposals is being planned for next year.
