Residents and businesses are being invited to share their views and ideas on the development of a new and comprehensive Town Centre Masterplan for Chippenham to help boost Chippenham's economy, enhance the environment and celebrate the town's heritage.
The Chippenham Town Centre Partnership Board has produced the One Plan for Chippenham, which begins the process of bringing together existing plans and proposals into a single plan specifically focused on making things happen.
The One Plan draws on the Town Council's Neighbourhood Plan as well as work undertaken by the Town Team and other community stakeholders. It takes on board the aspirations of landowners and the town centre business community.
The Rt Hon Michelle Donelan MP for the Chippenham Constituency, said: It is really important that you have a voice in shaping the future of our town. By giving us your feedback, we can make a community-led plan which will enable us to reshape our town centre with a coordinated approach. Please do pop to my office or the Town Hall to pick up a copy of the survey, which will enable you to have a voice in how we shape the town for future generations.
The One Plan has purposely focused on several key projects that would boost the economy and support the vibrancy and sustainability of the town centre.
Many of these schemes are focused on features that make Chippenham such a wonderful place to live, work and play. These include beautiful natural settings such as the river, Chippenham's historic heritage and making more of our town centre spaces and regeneration opportunities.
Through the public consultation, the Board aims to seek as many views as possible from a wide range of stakeholders to shape the Chippenham Town Centre Masterplan. All information can be found on www.wiltshire.gov.uk/ChippenhamOnePlan
Ron Curtis of the Environment Agency said: We are very pleased to support this first step towards a scheme which will bring long-term benefits to Chippenham. Working with our partners on improving the River Avon will unlock many benefits for both people and wildlife, as well as better protecting communities by reducing flood risk.
Councillor Desna Allen, Leader of Chippenham Town Council added; The Town Council is keen to hear from residents and the local community on what their views and priorities are for the future of the town centre.
The consultation survey can be completed online at www.wiltshire.gov.uk/ChippenhamOnePlan. If anyone requires help completing the survey or would like the consultation material provided as a paper copy or in a different format, please contact Customer Services on 0300 456 0100.

This has been an active and creative partnership with a process that is embedded in the community with the good of Chippenham at its heart.

Cllr Richard Clewer, Leader of Wiltshire Council, commented: As a member of this Board, we would like to see this Masterplan act as a catalyst for regenerating the town centre making it fit for the challenges of the 21st century. This includes having a vibrant and sustainable town centre but also taking responsibility for the local environment. We want to hear from local people about their views on the One Plan so we have the right kind of schemes coming forward in the future to benefit Chippenham as a whole.
Further public events are being arranged to ensure local people can discuss the proposals in greater detail and ask any questions they may have with members of the Board. These public drop-in events are being held at:
