People can submit questions in advance for Ukraine public webinar next week

People are being encouraged to join a public webinar next week to hear the latest news and ask questions regarding the future for Ukrainians who have settled in Wiltshire.

The online event will be held at 5:30pm on Wednesday 28 September and will be an opportunity for people to find out more information and ask questions on the support available in the county. People can join the webinar by using this link https://bit.ly/3eVNt0y (opens new window) on the day.

People can also submit questions for the webinar in advance by emailing communications@wiltshire.gov.uk (opens new window).

The webinar will cover the support for Ukraine guests in Wiltshire and for hosts by Wiltshire Council and partners. There will be a focus on future options after the initial sponsor period of six months. There will also be discussion of community support and how people can become involved as well as time for questions and answers.

Latest figures show 2875 households have registered for the Homes for Ukraine scheme (opens new window) and currently 609 sponsors have been matched with 1561 individuals.

There have been 344 school places offered with a further 11 applications being processed.

Cllr Richard Clewer, Leader of Wiltshire Council said: "Our Wiltshire residents have been so generous so far, opening their homes and lives to make our Ukraine guests feel welcome and supported since arriving in the country, and we want to thank them for doing such an amazing job.

"With a number of the sponsorship arrangements now reaching the four-to-six month point, we are keen to look towards the future and the next steps, therefore I would encourage anyone who wants to find out more or ask questions about the process to join our webinar.

"We want people to feel informed and this webinar will be an opportunity to share the latest updates and information."
