People in Devizes asked for their views on public transport in the town

Wiltshire Council is asking people in the Devizes area to take part in a survey and share their views on public transport to help shape the future of local bus services in the town.

The council is currently looking at what bus services in the town and its surrounding area may look like in the future, and the feedback from this survey will be used to inform any changes to how public transport might be delivered in the area.

The survey asks people what they think about the current bus services in the Devizes area, where they could improve and where the services don't provide what is needed. The council is keen to hear from non-bus users, as well as those who currently use the services in the town.

Any changes to the bus services in Devizes will be delivered with the council's own public transport budget and Section 106 funding, which is money given to the council by housing developers to make improvements to local infrastructure.

Cllr Dr Mark McClelland, Cabinet Member for Transport, said: This is a fantastic opportunity for people in Devizes and the surrounding area to have their say on bus services in the town and how they can best meet current and future needs.

The feedback we receive through this survey will inform us of what people want from public transport in the area and ultimately encourage more bus use.

In our business plan we set out our commitment to have vibrant, well-connected communities and encourage greater use of public transport, and an improved bus network in Devizes will help us to achieve our ambitions.

The survey is open from today (Friday 18 November) until 11.59pm on Sunday 15 January 2023.
