New pregnancy yoga classes launching at Melksham Campus

New pre and post-natal yoga classes are starting at Melksham Community Campus later this month (January).

The sessions which have been specifically designed for women from their second trimester or for post-natal women following the eight-week check, will commence from Tuesday 17 January.

During each 45-minute class, participants will be introduced to a variety of low-intensity moves and yoga practices designed to help tone, stretch and relax. The class ends with a cool down and guided mindfulness.

The times are:

• Prenatal class: 9.30am - 10.15am
• Postnatal class: 10.30am - 11.15am

Cllr Ian Blair-Pilling, Cabinet Member for Leisure said, These new classes will be a great addition to the class provision at the Melksham Community Campus

These classes are designed to help with both the aches and discomfort of pregnancy and rehabilitation in post-natal recovery.

Pre-natal yoga is a low-impact way to maintain exercise throughout a pregnancy, with lots of known additional benefits.

As a Council priority, we are keen to help the people of Wiltshire increase their activity levels with a range of sporting opportunities. We hope that this class will provide great benefits to pregnant women and new mums.
