Wiltshire Council has unveiled the transformational projects that are being taken forward in Trowbridge as part of the £16 million investment from Central Government through the Future High Streets Fund.

Last year, the council was awarded £16,347,056 to develop a range of projects which would reinvigorate Trowbridge town centre in a way that drives growth, improves experience and ensures future sustainability.

The projects are now at a stage where local residents can give their views and ideas on the emerging work. These include pedestrian and public space enhancements in the town centre, improvements to the River Biss corridor, vacant commercial unit grant, the renovation of the Town Hall and seeking a new use for Market Chambers (the old Wetherspoon).

Cllr Richard Clewer, Leader of Wiltshire Council, said: "Our high streets and town centres have faced many challenges in recent years, including the impact of COVID-19. It is essential these areas remain vibrant and sustainable, so they can continue to support our local communities and the local economy in the future.

"We are really pleased to be able to share with local people the proposals to reinvigorate Trowbridge town centre. We would encourage people to take a look at the presentation on our webpage www.wiltshire.gov.uk/fhsf-trowbridge and then complete the online survey with their thoughts and views.

"These projects are the catalyst for regenerating Trowbridge town centre which will lead to other schemes coming forward in the future."

The survey provides an opportunity for local people to give their feedback on the funded Future High Streets projects as well as their opinion on various aspects of the town centre which will help inform potential future initiatives.

The survey can be completed online at www.wiltshire.gov.uk/fhsf-trowbridge. If anyone requires help completing the survey or would like the engagement material provided as a paper copy or in a different format, please contact Customer Services on 0300 456 0100.
