The health suite at Five Rivers Health and Wellbeing Centre, including the sauna and steam room, will reopen to the public next month.

The facilities, which have been closed since early 2023 due to rising costs, will reopen on a trial basis from 12pm on Monday 2 September as follows;

  • Monday: 12pm - 8pm
  • Tuesday: 8am - 4pm
  • Wednesday: 8am - 4pm
  • Thursday: 12pm - 8pm
  • Friday: 8am - 4pm
  • Saturday: 8am - 4pm
  • Sunday: 8am - 4pm

All core leisure memberships (Life Zone, Fitness Zone and Swim Zone memberships) include unlimited health suite access as part of the membership benefits, but members are requested to check in for their health suite visit using either the self-service kiosk or at reception - which will ensure the council can accurately reflect attendances. The health suite is also available on a pay as you go basis to leisure card holders and non-members.

Following decoration and improvement works, the fitness suite at the centre will also reopen to the public on 2 September, where customers can benefit from new and upgraded fitness equipment. Gym users have been able to use the temporary gym located in the sports hall during the three-week closure.

Cllr Ian Blair-Pilling, Cabinet Member for Leisure and Public Health said: We know that lots of people have missed the Five Rivers health suite facilities, so we are pleased that we are able to run this trial and re-open them. I encourage those who wish to come and use the sauna or steam room as this will give us an idea how viable it will be in the future.

We want to thank the members for their patience whilst we have been finalising the health suite reopening details and for utilising the temporary gym during the fitness suite works. We remain committed to ensuring that our communities have access to safe and well-maintained facilities, to enable people to prioritise their physical and mental health.
