Wiltshire Council's Multiply scheme which started in 2022, has proved a huge success with almost 2,000 learners in Wiltshire.
1,954 people enrolled in tailored courses over the last three years, to build their confidence with basic maths skills, whether it be to help them manage their personal finances or household budget, support their child with homework or get on in the workplace, develop or start their own business.
Laura Mayes, Cabinet Member for Education and Skills said: "I'm delighted with how successful the Multiply scheme has been. To support residents to improve their confidence and skill with numbers and see how the courses have made a huge difference has been really pleasing to see. Our Family and Community Learning team will continue to offer online courses to residents for further learning, so if you're looking for a bit of extra support then please get in touch."
Learners who enrolled in the courses said: "The maths course is good. I learned some mathematical concepts and definitions. It helped me improve general mathematical knowledge needed for life and skilled work, increasing my confidence in everyday life."
"I rock at Maths now. I can tell the time and I can use a thermometer. I can tell if the food is hot enough and if the freezer is cold enough. I also use a thermometer to work out what clothes to wear. I used to find Maths hard but now I find it easy."
"Thank you so much for your time. I found your training course very valuable and I really enjoyed working with you. I have immediately actioned some of the key 'take aways' and have lots more work to get stuck into."
