An improved Elm Grove play area in Trowbridge has been reopened following refurbishment work by Wiltshire Council.
The play area, which has been closed since February 2022, has been fitted with new swings, a new mini roundabout and boundary fence, and the multi-play unit has been refurbished and repaired.
Parks and play areas in the county are subject to regular inspections, and it was during these inspections that much of the Elm Grove play equipment was identified as nearing the end of its life. To keep children safe, the council isolated areas of the park while the new equipment was being installed.
The refurbishment was funded through section 106 contributions from housing developers.
Cllr Mark McClelland, Cabinet Member for Street Scene, said: We are really pleased and excited to be able to reopen the refurbished Elm Grove play area for children to enjoy.
This play area is a valuable community asset in Trowbridge, but the previous equipment was old and in a state of disrepair, making it unsafe for children to use. We hope that local children enjoy using the new play equipment, which we were able to refurbish using the Section 106 funding from local developments.
