Smart Mushrooms Ltd, a leading producer of mushroom products, has expanded its production thanks to an Invest in Wiltshire grant, funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF).
The company, which is based in Calne, received £20,074 in funding which was used to purchase specialised equipment. This has enabled Smart Mushrooms to more than double its production capacity and significantly improve the quality of its products.
Cllr Richard Clewer, Leader of Wiltshire Council and Cabinet Member for Economic Development, said: The UK Shared Prosperity Fund has really had a positive impact on businesses in Wiltshire, helping them to expand and create more jobs in the county.
Smart Mushrooms is another great example of how the fund is helping local businesses to grow, enhance their capabilities, and contribute to a more sustainable local economy.
This funding is key to driving economic growth across Wiltshire, directly supporting our Business Plan priority of building a thriving economy and empowering local businesses.
Sam Gardner, Director of Smart Mushrooms, said: The grant really helped me at the early stages to think ahead and to think big. It made me feel comfortable taking big financial risks. When I look at our production facility now it is clear how pivotal the grant was. In retrospect should we have not been awarded a grant, I expect our business would've grown significantly slower over the last year.
