This year, 6,206 children across the county registered for the Summer Reading Challenge that ran in Wiltshire Council Libraries for eight weeks over the summer. This was an increase of 39% on last year.

Young people with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND) from across Wiltshire checked out exciting options for the future at a special event last week.

A new hospital liaison service will help carers when those they care for are in hospital, and in the often-difficult first few weeks after they return home.

Wiltshire residents can now apply for primary and secondary school places for September 2023 entry, for children starting school for the first time or for children who are moving from a primary to secondary school or from an infant to junior school.

Wiltshire Council successfully delivered the Government's Holiday Activity and Food programme to over 1,800 young people during four weeks of the summer holidays. The programme, which aims to provide children eligible for benefits related free school meals with free access to high quality activities and nutritious meals, was delivered across Wiltshire using the brand FUEL and was funded by the Department for Education.

Wiltshire Council is launching a year-long campaign involving schools, libraries and communities to encourage people of all ages to delve into reading. The Wiltshire Year of Reading starts today (27 September 2021) encouraging everyone from very young children to older adults to enjoy the written word.
