Salisbury Digital Switchover

Changes are required to the telecare equipment used in your home due to a widescale changeover, from analogue to modern fibre, in Salisbury telephone lines. These changes will be carried out as part of the prescribed telecare service that you receive - you do not need to do anything.

We are working with our trusted partner, T2, to rollout these changes, and install the new equipment.

What will happen now

T2 will be in contact with you, by phone, to arrange a convenient time for an engineer to visit your home. You will then receive a letter confirming details of your appointment. An example of this letter is attached: Prescribed Telecare sample letter (OpenDocument text format, 169 KB)(opens new window)

What to expect when the engineer visits

  • an engineer will arrive at your property, with proof of identification, at the agreed appointment time, and they will explain the work they will be undertaking
  • your existing telecare alarm will be disconnected and removed from your property, and taken for recycling where appropriate
  • the engineer will install your new digital SmartLife dispersed alarm, in a location you agree to, in your home. The alarm will need to be in reach of a power socket and away from any devices that may interfere with the signal. You will then be provided with a wireless pendant button that is connected to the alarm, this can be worn around the neck or on your wrist
  • before leaving, the engineer will test the unit by placing a call to the monitoring centre, and will then provide you with a demonstration and explanation on the functionality. You will also be given a user guide that explains this

We will never ask you for bank details - do not provide them, even if someone calls in connection with telecare.
