Areas to be inspected include but are not limited to:
- Tracking (security of bolts, correct type of fasteners, track damage and any other irregularities)
- Passenger and wheelchair restraints
- Wheelchair access and equipment including ramps and wheelchair lifts
The following equipment must be placed inside the vehicle for testing as well:
- All tracked seats
- Ramps
- Wheelchair tie down equipment.
WAV's are required to be inspected every 12 months and will take approximately 45 minutes. However, it is likely that the WAV and 6 monthly inspections will be carried out at the same time in which case this will take approximately one hour. Please make sure that you bring a current valid LOLER certificate (should your vehicle be fitted with a hydraulic lift) and any type approval or body conversion certification that is relevant to the vehicle being inspected.
As with the six month inspections, a letter will be sent out to remind you when your vehicle inspection is due; when you receive the letter it will be the responsibility of the vehicle owner to ensure the inspection is carried out on time and to contact fleet services as above.
For a full list of what will be inspected please see the inspection procedure document.
