Wiltshire Council is licensed to operate a public MOT station at their vehicle workshops in Devizes. We have the facilities to MOT cars, small mini buses and commercial vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes, classes 4, 5, and 7.

MOTs are by appointment only and are available during depot hours between 8am to 4pm Monday to Thursday, and 8am to 3.30pm on Fridays.
Services and costs
Fees are set by Vehicle and Operator Services Agency and are not subject to VAT.
- Class IV: £54.85
(private cars up to 8 passenger seats - standard cars and light vans) - Class V: £59.55
(private passenger of 13 - 16 seats) - Class VII: £58.60
(commercial vehicles 3000 kg - 3500 kg) - retest (free): within 10 working days

Vehicle inspections
The areas to be inspected include but are not limited to:
- lighting equipment
- steering and suspension
- brakes
- legal signs
- tyres and wheels
- seatbelts
- mirrors
- fire extinguishers
- doors and seats
- windows
- other general areas
Our staff should be expected to carry out their duties in a safe manner. We will not tolerate any abuse or aggressive behaviour towards our staff.
Hackney vehicles should be inspected every six months and will take approximately half an hour. A letter will be sent out to remind you when your vehicle inspection is due, when you receive the letter contact fleet services to arrange a convenient date and time.
Please make sure you take a copy of your current MOT certificate and identification badge with you for the inspection.

Areas to be inspected include but are not limited to:
- tracking (security of bolts, correct type of fasteners, track damage and any other irregularities)
- passenger and wheelchair restraints
- wheelchair access and equipment including ramps and wheelchair lifts
The following equipment must be placed inside the vehicle for testing as well:
- all tracked seats
- ramps
- wheelchair tie down equipment
WAV's are required to be inspected every 12 months and will take approximately 45 minutes. However, it is likely that the WAV and six-monthly inspections will be carried out at the same time in which case this will take approximately one hour. Please make sure that you bring a current valid LOLER certificate (should your vehicle be fitted with a hydraulic lift) and any type approval or body conversion certification that is relevant to the vehicle being inspected.
As with the six-month inspections, a letter will be sent out to remind you when your vehicle inspection is due; when you receive the letter it will be the responsibility of the vehicle owner to ensure the inspection is carried out on time and to contact fleet services as above.
