Cabinet member recognised as she stands down from role

Wiltshire Council Leader Cllr Richard Clewer has today confirmed that Cllr Pauline Church has stepped down from her role as Cabinet Member for Finance, Procurement, Commissioning, IT, Digital and Commercialisation.

Cllr Clewer thanked Cllr Church for her hard work and commitment after it was confirmed she has stepped down due to business commitments having been a member of the Wiltshire Council Cabinet since 2018. Cllr Church will continue as a councillor for Wilton.

Cllr Clewer said: I want to thank Cllr Church for her service and great commitment to her role throughout her time on cabinet and I wish her well for the future. Cllr Church has worked tremendously hard with officers and other cabinet members this year to ensure we will be able to set a balanced budget which will deliver the best outcomes for residents and businesses across Wiltshire. At this time I will take on the finance portfolio until after the budget for 2022/2023 has been set and will then review cabinet positions.  Cllr O'Neill will take on responsibility for IT and Digital.

Cllr Church said: It's been a huge honour and privilege to be part of Wiltshire Council's Cabinet for the last four years and I have worked tirelessly in the roles I have held.  While my business is going through a period of growth I must focus on that at this time to ensure it is manageable and sustainable. Despite standing down from cabinet, I will continue in my role as a division councillor and support the residents of Wilton, Quidhampton and Netherhampton to ensure the best outcomes for the community.

Cllr Clewer has also announced that Cllr Ashley O'Neill will be taking on responsibility for Governance, IT, Broadband and Digital.  Cllr Ian Blair Pilling will be taking on responsibility for Public Health and Public Protection to ensure a closer alignment with the council's leisure centres and health and wellbeing priorities. Cllr Nic Puntis was also appointed as Portfolio Holder for Flooding.
