We're polls apart as majority of election venues remain the same

Our elections team has secured all but nine of their usual polling stations for the upcoming General Election.

Despite the busy Christmas period 348 out of 357 polling stations will remain the same on 12 December, they are detailed in the table below.

Carlton Brand, Acting Returning Officer for Wiltshire said: "Our team has worked really hard to secure all the polling stations. Booking these venues was one of our biggest  hurdles to clear and I'd like to thank those who are responsible for running the churches, halls and community spaces up and down the county for accommodating us at such short notice.

"The name of your local polling station will be printed on your poll card, and you will receive these very soon."

Postal poll cards have been sent out, and polling cards will follow in due course.

The polls will be open on 12 December from 7am until 10pm with 357 polling stations available throughout the county.

The deadline to register to vote in the election is by midnight on 26 November. People have until 5pm on 26 November to register to vote by post. If people want to nominate someone else to vote on their behalf, they have until 5pm on 4 December to register. People are advised not to leave it until the last minute.

To register to vote, people must:

  • be registered to vote
  • be 18 or over on the day of the election ('polling day')
  • be a British, Irish or qualifying Commonwealth citizen
  • be resident at an address in the UK (or a British citizen living abroad who has been registered to vote in the UK in the last 15 years)
  • not be legally excluded from voting
