Bedding needed for people leaving hospital

Businesses across Wiltshire are being asked to help support the local efforts in tackling COVID-19.

Wiltshire Council's Reablement Team supports people to enable them to be discharged from hospital. Due to the current COVID-19 crisis the team is running low on stocks of bed linen and appealing to local shops and businesses that may be able to donate the following items:

  • single flat sheets
  • double flat sheets
  • pillow cases
  • single duvet covers
  • single duvets.

Cllr Laura Mayes, Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care, Public Health and Public Protection said: "Some of the people being discharged from hospital need to continue to use a hospital bed at home but many don't have suitable duvets and sheets to make up their beds.

"The current COVID-19 crisis has increased demand and made it difficult to source bed linen from our usual suppliers. We are appealing to local shops or businesses that may be able to kindly provide any additional items. The items need to be new to avoid the risk of cross infection from reusing pre-owned donations.

"The community response to the ongoing COVID-19 situation has been, and continues to be, fantastic and we thank local businesses for their kind help and support."

Any shops or businesses that can help with the supply of bed linen are asked to email Adultcare.RFC@wiltshire.gov.uk (opens new window) with the subject line Bed linen support. The supplies are needed at County Hall, Trowbridge and at Monkton Park, Chippenham and can be delivered during office hours or alternatively we can collect items.
