Wiltshire Council celebrates fourth year of World Social Work Week

To celebrate World Social Work Week, Wiltshire Council will be running a series of events to bring together social workers to learn, connect and influence change.

World Social Work Week takes place this week and this year's focus is 'Beun Vivir: shared Future for Transformative Change.' This resonates with the contemporary challenges and aspirations of social work. 

This also coincides with World Social Work Day on Tuesday 19 March, which acknowledges the commitment and determination of social workers and all staff working in social care.

Cllr Laura Mayes, Cabinet Member for Children, Education and Skills said: Social work is both a challenging and rewarding career and this week provides an opportunity for people to come together to celebrate and voice their lived experience of social work.

I commend our social workers for their continuous hard work and dedication in supporting the lives of vulnerable children and families across Wiltshire. 

Jade Painter, a social worker in children's services has been recognised for her efforts and has been nominated for the Amazing Social Workers award in the British Association of Social Workers (BASW) national awards.

Cllr Jane Davies, Cabinet member for Adult Social Care said: Their continuous efforts make a real difference in supporting the lives of people in Wiltshire and their diligence hasn't gone unnoticed with staff being recognised for their hard work in national awards.

Throughout the week Social Workers will have the opportunity to attend virtual programmes of events, including provoking speakers, workshops, debates, discussions, and wellbeing drop ins.
