Homes ready for families in time for Christmas
Council programme sees families move into new homes in Chippenham
Christmas has come early for some families in Chippenham, as they get the keys to high quality homes as part of a Wiltshire Council housing programme.
Wiltshire Council is in contract with Redcliffe Homes to provide 17 affordable rented and 11 shared ownership homes in Rowden Brook, Chippenham. The variety of affordable homes at each site will range from one-bed flats to four-bed houses. Each will be well built to a high specification and energy performance.
Phase one of this development is complete with 2 two-bed shared ownership houses, 1 two-bed affordable rented house, and 3 three-bed affordable rented houses ready to be occupied. Last week families started to move into the rental properties with their front doors adorned with a welcoming festive star.
This is part of Wiltshire Council's drive to provide 1,000 affordable homes over the next decade.
Cllr Phil Alford, Wiltshire Council Cabinet Member for Housing, said:
"To see families move into their new homes in time for Christmas is fantastic, and we hope this sets them up for a happy new year.
"Our innovative approach to providing homes of all different kinds and catering for a variety of needs always has the future occupants right at the heart of it, and we're delighted to see more people having the opportunity to lives in these types of houses.
"We look forward to seeing and sharing more progress on the programme in 2022."
