Wiltshire Council takes positive planning action on unauthorised Salisbury shopfront

Wiltshire Council has issued a £400 fixed penalty notice (FPN) to a Swindon resident who paid an unlicenced person to dispose of their domestic waste. The waste was subsequently fly-tipped in a layby in Winterbourne Monkton, near the Avebury World Heritage Site, and was inspected by Environmental Enforcement Officers.

Wiltshire Council has successfully been allocated almost £10m in funding as part of a government nutrient mitigation scheme to reduce the environmental impact of new developments in the Hampshire Avon river catchment.

Wiltshire Council will be seeking to work with a specialist contractor to help deliver energy efficiency measures to up to 175 existing homes in the county.

Locals will notice activity on the Melksham Community Campus site in January, with archaeological work set to get under way as preparations for full construction continue.

To help inform any future works as part of the Salisbury River Park proposals, the Environment Agency is carrying out preliminary ground investigation work at the Maltings and Central Area Car Park.
