Wiltshire Council is reminding people to sign up for a webinar to find out more and ask questions about the final phases of dualling of the A350 at Chippenham.

The engagement session is being held from 6pm-7pm on Wednesday 11 January 2023, and people should sign up beforehand on the Wiltshire Council website; they'll also be able to submit questions in advance or on the day of the webinar.

Phases 4 and 5 of the plans will see the remaining single carriageway sections of the A350 at Chippenham turned into dual carriageways to reduce congestion and improve journey times, with the plans also looking to improve Bumpers Farm Roundabout and give easier access to and from the industrial estate.

The improvements to this busy stretch of the A350 will see:

  • The widening of the A350 to dual, two-lane carriageways between Chequers Roundabout (A4) and Lackham roundabout. This is phase 4 of the overall dualling scheme.
  • Phase 5 of the dualling, which will see the widening of the A350 to dual, two-lane carriageways along the full stretch between Cepen Park South Roundabout and Bumpers Farm Roundabout (A420).
  • Remodelling of the Bumpers Farm roundabout junction to provide capacity enhancements and full signalisation.
  • Changes to Lackham roundabout capacity to accommodate the additional carriageway.

The engagement period begins ends on Friday 3 February 2023, so webinar attendees will have plenty of time to complete the online survey and share their views after the event.

Cllr Dr Mark McClelland, Cabinet Member for Transport, said: "This webinar engagement session will enable people to see the proposals, ask questions and find out more about the final phases of the A350 Chippenham dualling project before they take the survey and share their views.

"All feedback we receive on the project will be fed into the full business case, which we'll submit to the Department for Transport next year.

"These final two parts of the project will further increase capacity and improve journey times on this important route from the M4 through Wiltshire."

To find out more, book on the webinar and take the survey, people can go to A350 Chippenham Bypass Improvements (Phase 4 and 5).
